[ Twenty minutes later, there was in fact a ring on the doorbell. Helena would answer the door to a giant pile of snacks in a cardboard box, behind which was Karen. ] ]

[Helena chuckles softly and steps away from the door so that Karen can get in. God she really is a lucky woman. Best friend and snacks? She never needs to leave the house again.] You always did know how to make an entrance.

[ And the thing is that she'd bought all things she knows Helena loves, but she doesn't want to say so in the mild fear that this isn't her Helena and she's gotten everything wrong. She's waiting, though. ]

Drinks are under the box.

[ A few boxes of soda cans. Superstrength is useful for things! ]

[She shuts the door behind Karen once she's inside.] Show off. [It's said affectionately as she makes a beeline for the box. Spoilers: her creator still wrote her in the New 52 so she basically likes all the same things. If it helps, she goes for the sweetest snack first.]

I'm ready for whatever movie you're ready to throw at me.

[ She brings the the goods over to the table and puts them down so they can both start rading. ]

I didn't even bring any of the good horror movies I found over here. But I will next time.

As if I need to tempt you for that. [She's popping some caramel popcorn in her mouth without shame once she grabs a seat at the table.] But, fine. I'll try not to poke holes in the plot when you do.

Who cares about the plot? Horror is all about the visceral reaction. The visuals. The gut-wrench. The mounting terror. No one's watching for the plot.

They're watching for the experience.

Or the laughs.

Sometimes both.
